3 Tips On How To Be More Decisive And Feel Great
Don’t you hate it when someone asks you, “where do you want to go eat?” and you reply, whatever you’d like,” That conversation just doesn’t feel good. The other person doesn’t want to make a decision, and you don’t want to make the decision. Well, that goes for everything in life. Practice the art of being decisive in all of the areas in your life. It’s powerful.
I couldn’t get myself to choose anything. The fact that I couldn’t come to a decision gave me anxiety. Recently, I read the book 4-hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. The message that resonated with me was, to eliminate the unwanted, and to become decisive. For example, he states, “you need to develop the uncommon habit of making a decision, both for yourself and for others.” Now I practice with everything that comes my way. I will always strive to choose what I want.
Below I will share with you three simple tips to help you make a decision.
Be Confident
Hold your head up high and feel the confidence. To become a master making decisions, you have to believe in yourself. It doesn’t matter if you make a mistake, brush it off and keep on going. The next time someone asks you where do you want to eat, tell them. It will eliminate a back and forth dance that nobody likes. This week pay attention to what comes your way. When it’s time to make a decision. Make it.
Follow Your Gut
It’s not always going to be picking a place to eat dinner. In life, you will come across many challenging and uncomfortable decisions. With the wider choices like staying in a failed relationship, moving on your own, or opening up your own business. That’s when you need to understand what you are deciding and always follow your gut. The best compass we have is our inner guide leading us to make right decisions. That’s when you sit quietly, meditate and you will know the best solution. Trust yourself, remember step 1 Be confident.
Practice
Start small. Surprise everyone around you and make the decision. By doing it often and consistently you will feel surprisingly sturdy. Train your brain to choose what you want; it becomes easier the more you practice. Start today.
In summary, like Timothy stated, "it’s an uncommon habit to be decisive." But, when you get the taste of making bold decisions, there is no stopping you. Do it! Have a fantastic week.
Much Love,
